Top seeds through to WA Open International squash tournament semifinals
The top seeds in the WA Open International squash tournament have progressed to Saturday’s semifinals at Mirrabooka Squash Centre.
Women’s No.1 seed and world No.69, South Australian Alex Haydon, did it the hard way, taking five games to overcome India’s Urwashi Joshi 11-13, 11-5, 6-11, 11-2 11-6.
Haydon will now face Madison Lyon, the Queenslander on track to add the Perth trophy to her Auckland Open title won last month.
Men’s top seed, Queenslander Joseph White, had an easier passage into the semifinals, the world No. 82 overcoming fellow Aussie Ben Ratcliffe 11-3, 11-6, 11-6.
White will face the winner of last week’s Golden Open in Kalgoorlie, New Zealand’s Joel Arscott, in his semifinal. Finals of the men’s and women’s events will be held on Sunday, June 9 from 2PM.
