Social media ‘drives third of divorces’ lawyers claim
Relationship problems caused by social media are involved in nearly a third of divorce cases, lawyers claim.
“Digital detachment”, “always on their phone” and “online affairs” are more common in marital breakdowns.
UK service divorce-online found 30 per cent of the 1,549 cases it handled from January to August this year cited problems over social media use.
Managing director Mark Keenan said: “It’s clear digital infidelity is no longer just a side issue. . . It is often the main cause of marital breakdown.”
