West Travel Club’s Nice Day Out tours a big success
West Travel Club’s popular Nice Day Out tours are designed to be just that — and last week we had three of them at specially chosen locations in the Darling Range and the Wheatbelt.
The Nice Day Out tours are relaxed, fun and educational.
The recipe is simple. . . take one large, comfortable bus from Australian Pinnacle Tours, a multi-talented travel editor, a wildflower expert, a travel journalist/photographer, about 35 guests, morning tea and lunch, and mix them together.
During the journey Travel Editor Stephen Scourfield and wildflower expert Grady Brand regaled the guests with entertaining stories and educational interpretations of Western Australia’s unique ecosystems.
At each stop the guests had the opportunity to explore and learn more about WA’s wildflowers from Grady, or join Stephen and journalist and photographer Mogens Johansen for tips and tricks to improve their photography.
After leaving the busy city behind, we stopped to explore a roadside reserve in Gidgegannup, enjoyed morning tea at Noble Falls and lunch and bushwalks at Djidi-Djidi Ridge in the Chittering Valley. In the afternoon we marvelled at spider, donkey and cowslip orchids at the old Wannamal School site and admired more rare wildflowers including the very pretty Star of Bethlehem at Boonanarring Nature Reserve alongside Wannamal West Road, before returning to Perth.
It was a full day but all agree that it was indeed, a VERY Nice Day Out.
