WA has a new golden girl, with Gage Roads Brew Co. teaming up Pink Boots Society to brew a special beer for International Women’s Day on March 8.

The beer, She’s Golden Mango Wheat Ale is the sixth instalment of a partnership that has raised $50,000 to fund scholarships supporting women in the brewing industry.

Gage Roads brewer Simone Clements says the 4 per cent ABV, limited release beer has been brewing as a concept for a few years.

“There has been talk within the team of making a mango wheat beer for years,” she said.

“IWD seemed like the perfect reason to whip this one out of the bag.”

Ms Clements said the fresh mango flavours compliment the banana and clove characters of the yeast in the wheat beer.

“Raising the profile of women in the brewing industry is close to my heart,” she added.

“I think it’s important to show the next generation of women that this is a viable career.”

Pink Boots Society national president Sarah Turner heralded the ongoing support of Gage Roads, which funds the Women in Leadership Scholarship now in its fifth year.

“Their commitment to social impact and fostering diversity in our industry is truly commendable,” she said.

An all-female brewing team created She’s Golden, which will be available in 500ml cans and on tap at supporting venues, including Gage Roads Freo.
