The Combined Churches of Katanning are decking the halls while warming up their vocal cords for the third annual Carols at the Park to ignite Christmas spirit at Piesse Park amphitheatre.

The carollers will take the stage at 7pm with traditional carols, fun classics and some surprise new jingles on Saturday, December 7.

Kids activities including sack races, egg and spoon races and an original game character hunt where players will go on a quest to find all the nativity characters hiding in the park start from 5pm.

Attendees are encouraged to dress-up as their favourite nativity character and there is a selection of best costume prizes to win.

A sausage sizzle, food trucks and small treats will be offered and acoustic duo Ash and Grace will entertain carol-goers before the choir begins.

Carols co-ordinator Tania Severin said she was most excited to see the kids having fun and thinks the carols connect the community over the holidays.

“It gets the community involved and the people love doing it,” she said.

“The kids entertainment is going to be fun — kids are welcome to come join up the front and play along.

“It is a great way to get the community together to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas.”

Ms Severin thanked the Shire of Katanning for funding the lights and sound system and the three other carol committee members who helped make the event happen.
