Brown stars in Brumbies’ tight win

Baldivis Brumbies came away from last Sunday’s game with their second win of the season, taking down South Mandurah Falcons, 4.4 (28) to 3.7 (25).

The Brumbies were leading at every break and fought off a strong fourth-quarter effort from the Falcons to secure the victory.

Coach Jamie McGillivray said the team learnt from their mistakes in round two and managed to keep their structure.

“The girls learnt from last week and from their mistakes in that respect and I learnt from my mistakes as a coach as well,” he said.

“We certainly went out with a lot more structure in mind and a bit more free-flowing play.”

McGillivray said the efforts of Kerrilee Brown went a long way in contributing to the win. “She absolutely starred,” he said.

“If it wasn’t for her, we probably would’ve been beaten convinc-ingly.”

The team will train hard in the next couple of weeks to prepare themselves for their round 5 match-up against competition leaders Pinjarra, McGillivray said.

The Brumbies are scheduled to play Dwellingup away on Sunday at 11am.
