Rockingham Rams women’s team are making history as they break their finals hiatus, playing in the grand final for the first time in four years.

In last weekend’s preliminary final the team took on South Mandurah, securing a place in the grand final with a smashing 31-point victory.

It’s a historic moment for the club, which went in the finals series sitting in the top two spot.

In 2019 the team didn’t make the finals, in 2020 the team was knocked out in the first round of finals and despite their best efforts again in 2021, they were knocked out in the preliminaries, just missing out on the grand final.

“It is always a good match-up with South Mandurah, they are a very skilled team so we knew it was going to be a good, hard game,” Rockingham Rams captain Holly Coomey said.

“We had beaten them twice during the season but with their talent, we knew they would put it up to us.

“Winning that game was so significant to us as a team and as a club.

“It is amazing to be part of a team that is creating history at the Rockingham Rams.

“We have been on the track since January and have worked so hard to get to where we are so I am so proud of our team for sticking together all season.”

The Rockingham Rams will take on the Pinjarra Football Club at Rushton Park this Saturday, September 17.
