A number of crashes and breakdowns have caused peak-hour havoc on Perth’s roads.

An accident on Mitchell Freeway southbound after Powis Street in Mt Hawthorn has resulted in traffic being backed up to Cedric Street.

The vehicles involved are in the left emergency lane and police are on the scene.

Traffic is also heavy after a crash closed Stakehill Road between Fletcher and Mandurah roads between Baldivis and Karnup.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

A breakdown on Kwinana Freeway at Mundijong Road in Baldivis has resulted in the right lane being closed, though traffic delays are minimal and tow trucks are onsite.

Another breakdown on Reid Highway westbound before Malaga Drive in Malaga is making it slow going, with traffic heavy back to Tonkin Highway.

It comes after breakdown on Tonkin Highway southbound at Reid Highway in Beechboro has been cleared but the going is still heavy on approach.
