Perth traffic: Female pedestrian fighting for life after walking on Tonkin Highway and being hit by car

A woman is fighting for life after being hit by a car on a major highway in Perth’s east.

Police say a 36-year-old woman was walking in the southbound lanes on Tonkin Highway, near Collier Road, Bayswater, when she was struck by a Ford Falcon utility about 4.10am on Tuesday.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital about 5.35am where she remains in ICU in a critical condition.

The 60-year-old driver of the ute was uninjured.
