Uber reveals list of weirdest and most popular things left behind in US vehicles last year

Ever jumped out of a taxi and realised you have left your phone, wallet or sunglasses inside the vehicle as they drive off.

Most have, but have you ever left behind your mannequin head with human hair, viking drinking horn or divorce papers?

Ride-share giant Uber has reached out to it’s fleet of US drivers, creating a list of the most unusual lost property finds, also sharing the most common items left in their vehicles in 2024.

Across 2024, the top three items most commonly left behind were phones, keys, and wallets and the winner of the most forgetful US city was New York City with the worst day falling on October 26.

“From wayward mannequin heads to live lobsters, Uber riders have left behind some truly unforgettable items this year,” said Camiel Irving, VP of Operations and GM of Mobility USC at Uber.

“Whether essential or totally unusual, we understand how important it is to be reunited with your lost belongings.

“The Uber Lost & Found Index celebrates the most unique and commonly forgotten items, while reminding riders that getting support to retrieve their prized possessions is simple through the Uber app.”

The amazing list has been compiled including backseat discoveries such as a Ghostbusters ghost trap, sticky boobs and 175 hamburgers.

Nintendo Switch consoles were a popular item that failed to make it out of the cars while an incredible 1.7 million passengers, more than the entire population of the Maldives, left their phones in an Uber ride throughout the year.

The full lists compiled saw the top alcohol products rate highly while bridal bouquets were No.1 on the wedding day lost lists.
